OFW in Thailand Performs “Paper Clip Challenge” To Buy Plane Ticket

A Pinoy OFW in Thailand performed the viral “Paper Clip Challenge” to earn money and buy a plane ticket back to the Philippines.

An overseas Filipino worker in Thailand named Clint Lozada joined the “Paper Clip Challenge” to gather a certain amount of cash to buy a plane ticket back to the country. He had no other choice but to do it for having not enough cash.

The “Paper Clip Challenge” started in 2015 and spread like a wildfire on social media. A certain individual had to trade a paperclip for something more valuable, which in turn has to be exchanged for another object.

Lozada started the challenge in December 2021 and experienced difficulties performing his gimmick. He got rejected on his first attempt but eventually traded the paper clip for a wet tissue.

Clint traded the wet tissue for a face mask from a group of Filipinos in Thailand. He was able to trade the face mask with a cellphone case worth THB1, 790 or P2, 786.

However, the language barrier and exchange value make it more difficult for him. He also posted the challenge online due to the surge of COVID-19 in Thailand. He even encountered discrimination and negativity during the challenge.

“Kahit maraming negativity ngayon na nangyayari, meron at merong mga taong taos-pusong tutulong sa’yo,” Lozada said.

After four months of struggle, Clint finally bought a plane ticket and return to his family in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental with the help of kind-hearted individuals who believed in him.
