Ping Lacson on Lito Atienza’s Call To Withdraw From Race: ‘Kabastusan’

Ping Lacson reacted to this recent statement of Lito Atienza

Senator Ping Lacson said that it is “kabastusan” for Congressman Lito Atienza to say that he should withdraw from the presidential race to give way to the Manny Pacquiao-Tito Sotto tandem.

Atienza is the running mate of Pacquiao while Lacson’s running mate is Sotto. The House Deputy Speaker said that if he will withdraw, he wants to support the candidacy of the Senate President.

In a sortie in Iloilo, Pacquiao said that the public should wait for the next chapter if he will have his meeting with Sotto. The boxer-turned-politician said that his running mate has specifically recommended the Senate President if the decision to withdraw becomes final.

On Thursday, Ping Lacson stressed that when he and Tito Sotto decided to run, they already intended to finish the race, based on the report from ABS-CBN reporter Willard Cheng.

For the nth time, I’ll finish this race and I’m not backing out. I suggest that Lito Atienza should go back to school and study GMRC which law I authored,” Lacson said. He also questioned the right of Lito Atienza to tell him to withdraw.

For the Senator, it is inappropriate for the Congressman to have that kind of statement. “That’s kabastusan to say the least, for somebody like him na mas matanda pa sa akin na magsasabing mag-back out ang isang kandidato without even consulting, that’s insulting,” Sen. Ping Lacson said.

Meanwhile, Lacson’s birthday message for President Rodrigo Duterte garnered criticisms from supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo. It is because the Senator showed appreciation that the Chief Executive never left him when he was at his lowest.
