Taxi Driver Traps Suspect Inside Vehicle Before Passing Away During Holdup Incident
A helpless taxi driver passed away after suffering stab wounds during a holdup incident but he was able to trap the suspect inside the vehicle.
Nowadays, robbery has been one of the major problems not only in the Philippines but also in various regions all around the world. Some criminals have no choice but to commit crimes due to lack of job opportunities.
The Philippine government is implementing stricter policy but the crimes continue to exist behind the knowledge of the authorities. The rate of criminality continue to increase despite the stricter rules and regulations.
Recently, the 32-year-old taxi driver identified as Edelberto Manulat died after he was stabbed by his passenger during a holdup incident in Cebu City. The suspect stole Manulat’s hard-earned cash worth P1, 400.
The culprit identified as Albert Toregoza pretended as a passenger and declared holdup inside the public taxi. The suspect stabbed the victim after taking the money but Manulat was fast enough to press the central lock button.
The poor victim was able to trap the suspect inside the vehicle and seek help from the authorities. After a few moments, the barangay watchmen arrived and cornered Torezaga inside the taxi.
However, the taxi driver passed away after sustaining two stab wounds during the incident. The suspect expressed regret for committing the crime and admitted that he was under the influence of illegal drugs during that time.
The holdup incident reportedly happened at Barangay Apas in Cebu City last February 22, 2022. Torezaga will face robbery and homicide charges.
