ABS-CBN remains grateful to Toni Gonzaga and accepted her resignation.
TONI GONZAGA – Controversial star Toni Gonzaga resigns as host of PBB and ABS-CBN showed grace and respect over her decision.
Apart from the fact that she hosted the proclamation rally of presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos and vice-presidential aspirant Sara Duterte on February 8, Toni Gonzaga was also lambasted for showing support to the man who opposed the renewal of the franchise of ABS-CBN. Introducing Marcoleta during the rally has dismayed and disappointed a lot of people from the Kapamilya network which included artists and current and former employees.
To recall, the shutdown has denied more than 11,000 people the job they needed amid the pandemic. Thousands were affected because the renewal bid was turned down despite the fact that the network has clarified and proven already that they have not violated any legal rules.
And for a big star of the network such as Gonzaga, to introduce this politician, has hurt many. She was expected to show compassion to the people under the network that groomed and built her but her political stand made her appear heartless and insensitive.
After her controversial hosting stint in the Philippine Arena as she also vocally expressed her support to the dictator’s son who aspires to snatch the highest position in the country, she resigned. In an Instagram post, she resigned as the main host of the reality show Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) after 16 years. Gonzaga has become an icon of the show and undeniably, her absence would leave a huge gap.
In a previous article, the reality show’s management accepted her resignation. And just recently, the ABs-CBN network also issued a statement about her decision to step down. And just like the PBB management, the network gracefully accepted her resignation. ABS-CBN remained grateful for her service as the show’s main host for the past 16 years.
