Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga and her husband Paul Soriano attended the proclamation rally of Bongbong Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte-Carpio at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan recently. The actress became a trending topic on Twitter after she hosted the event.
Lots of netizens scored the prominent host for siding with BBM’s camp due to historical record of alleged “killings,” corruption, and human rights abuses during the Martial Law regime of former president Ferdinand Marcos. On Wednesday, Feb. 9, she released an official statement regarding her leaving ABS-CBN’s reality tv show Pinoy Big Brother (PBB).
Toni Gonzaga said it has been a huge honor for her to have been on the tv show for 16 years and that she has made a lot of good memories there.
Her post elicited reactions from netizens and fellow celebs. Among the stars who commented in her post include Bianca Gonzales, Gretchen Barretto, Mariel Rodriguez, and her sister Alex Gonzaga.
Following her announcement, the Pinoy Big Brother management released a statement on her departure. PBB expressed respect and gratitude towards Toni.
“We respect the decision of Toni Gonzaga-Soriano to step down as main host of ‘Pinoy Big Brother.”
The management also expressed gratitude to the 38-year-old celebrity, who was part of the show for 16 years.
“Toni has been part of our reality show for 16 years and we thank her for helping bring the stories of our housemates to our viewers.”
