A bored security guard has been fired from work after he allegedly draw eyes on the million-dollar worth faceless painting.

A security guard has destroyed an artwork worth £740,000, according to a Daily Mail article. Security officers at a Russian exhibition have put eyes on faceless beings featured in artwork due to boredom.

On his first day on the job, the security guard drew two sets of eyeballs on the painting with a ballpoint pen. The artwork ‘Three Figures’ (1932–1934) by Anna Leporskaya was on display at the Yeltsin Center in Yekaterinburg, western Russia, during an abstract art show.

A security guard, who has not been identified, vandalized the painting. The Yeltsin Center stated in a statement that he is thought to be 60 years old and worked for a private security firm.

‘The World as Non-Objectivity’ is an art display that two guests are enjoying. According to the story, the exhibition ‘The Birth of a New Art’ at the Yeltsin Center detected the new features to two of the three characters on the 1930s artwork on December 7 last year.

The picture, which was on loan from Moscow’s State Tretyakov Gallery, was allegedly destroyed by the security officer when he grew bored on his first day on the job. As a result, he was fired from his position.

The Yeltsin Centre has just recently confirmed the identify of the suspect as a security guard, albeit they have not named the employee. The sculpture was then delivered the next day to a Moscow exhibition and assessed by an art restorer.

Police have launched an inquiry into vandalism, which carries a fine of £395 (74.9 million Russian Rubles) as well as a one-year prison term. The picture is being repaired, and the damage may be removed without causing long-term harm to the artwork, according to a restoration specialist at the State Tretyakov Gallery.

The painting’s damage and restoration costs are anticipated to reach £2,470. (RUB 250,000). The painting’s value is unknown; however, it was insured for £740,000 with the Alfa insurance firm (RUB 74.9 million). According to reports, the security guard’s employer is footing the bill for the restoration.
