Senatorial slate of Ping Lacson no longer have Win Gatchalian and Herbert Bautista
Presidential aspirant Senator Ping Lacson announced on February 10 that reelectionist senator Win Gatchalian and senatorial aspirant Herbert Bautista are no longer in their senatorial slate.
Lacson who is running with Senate President Tito Sotto as his vice presidential candidate previously included Gatchalian and Bautista under their tandem.
Based on the report from CNN Philippines, in a recent Twitter post, Sen. Ping Lacson made this announcement. “Sen Sherwin Gatchalian and ex-Mayor Herbert Bautista have made their choices of the principles and advocacies that they will embrace moving forward in this political exercise,” the presidential aspirant said.
Lacson added, “Obviously, they are not ours. Obviously, they are not ours.” Gatchalian and Bautista are being endorsed by the tandem of former Senator Bongbong Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
Bautista, as well, as Gatchalian is running under the Nationalist People’s Coalition where Sotto also belongs. At the proclamation rally of the Lacson-Sotto tandem, Win Gatchalian sent his brother Rep. Wes Gatchalian while he and Bautista attended the proclamation rally of the BBM-Sara tandem.
In a separate report of CNN Philippines, Herbert Bautista said that he only knew about the removal of his name under the Lacson-Sotto tandem from the news reports. Bautista also said that he sent a letter to Lacson and Sotto informing them that he is being endorsed by Marcos and Duterte.
He sent another letter asking Lacson and Sotto if he may represent NPC in the Marcos-Duterte UniTeam. The former mayor added that based on what he knows, there is no formal interparty agreement between NPC and the Partido Reporma to which Lacson belongs.
Even though he was surprised by the decision to remove him from the senatorial slate of the Lacson-Sotto tandem, the former Quezon City Mayor said that he has no ill-feeling towards Senator Ping Lacson.
Bautista said that with this, he can now openly campaign for Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte.
