VP Sara Duterte Admitted Making Request To AFP over Security Detail
AFP – The Armed Forces of the Philippines responded on the statement of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte over her security detail.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has been the center of headlines for several weeks now. The Vice President is surrounded by several issues regarding her remarks against the Marcoses as well as the Confidential Funds spending of the Office of the Vice President.
Regarding her remarks when she issued threats on the lives of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has summoned Duterte.
However, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has skipped the NBI probe anew. She also claimed that there are threats against her life.
Both the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) dismissed the claim of the Vice President based on the investigations they have conducted. Several House members also expressed their belief that there’s no threat in the life of the VP.
Amid the issue, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte recently spoke about her security detail. Duterte revealed her plan to hire a private security if the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will remove all her security detail.
According to the Vice President, she does not want replacements of her old old security personnel as she currently does not feel secured. That is the request that she has expressed to the AFP.
Recently, the Armed Forces of the Philippines spoke following the statement of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on GMA News, AFP spokesperson Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla stressed that they will perform their mandate accordingly and “provide security accordingly”.
“We will make sure that the security of the Vice President will not be compromised,” he said.
According to AFP chief General Romeo Brawner Jr., the replacement of the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) is intended for the security of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. However, the Vice President just wants the AFP to just leave whatever is left for security detail as she does not want replacements.
Aside from speaking about her security detail, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also spoke on the Confidential Funds of Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ office.
