Ping Lacson reacted to the explanation of GMA
Senator Ping Lacson said that he holds no grudge against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as he went through a tough time during her administration.
When Arroyo was the President, Lacson was treated and hunted like a criminal and based on the report from The Philippine Star, the former President explained that it was due to false information that reached her.
Arroyo said that Antonio Luis Marquez aka Ador Mawanay fed her false information against Lacson. The Senator was linked to various criminal activities in 2001 but eventually, Mawanay retracted his accusation against Lacson.
When asked about the recent statement of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Ping Lacson said that this is not an issue to him anymore. “Late is always better than never. To ex-PGMA’s credit, she has the decency and courage to admit that she publicly and unjustly accused me of various crimes based on false information. Whatever, I have already forgiven her a long time ago,” the presidential aspirant under Partido Reporma said.
This explanation of Arroyo was in a portion of her memoir “Deus Ex Machina” that was launched on Wednesday, February 2. The Senator added that during the presidency of Arroyo, he was indeed hoping to restore his good reputation.
“For nine long years, under her regime, all that I had been hoping and praying for was to get back my dignity and honor,” Ping Lacson said.
Meanwhile, Lacson stressed that he is the most qualified and most competent candidate for president. He stated this during an interview with Boy Abunda and he promised the Filipino people that if he wins, there will an internal cleansing, just like what he did when he was the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
