Pres. Bongbong Marcos Tells Public To Be Careful over Spread of Fake News, Disinformation

BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President warned the public about “fake news” and stressed that his alliance has real supporters and not just “keyboard warrior”.

It is election campaign season in the Philippines now and many people are busy preparing towards the 2025 Midterm Elections that is set to be held on May 12. There are both local and national elections.

There will be a senatorial election in the 2025 Midterm Elections. Several political alliances have come up with a list of the candidates for senators that they will endorse. Several political parties in the country merged and former the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos leads the political alliance which endorse 12 candidates in the upcoming 2025 Elections. The Chief Executive had attended several rallies of the alliance to personally campaign for their senatorial bets.

Sen. Imee Marcos previously withdrew from the senatorial slate of Pres. Marcos. According to her, it is to avoid placing her brother in an uncertain situation and she also wants to be friend with everyone. She is running as an independent candidate in the upcoming poll.

Despite the withdrawal of the Senator from his senatorial slat, the President continues to endorse his sister. He also previously stressed that she can join them if she wants to. Here are the senatorial bets of the Alyansa:

Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos warned the public about fake news and the spread of disinformation. Speaking on his latest vlog, the Chief Executive stressed that false information are rampant during the election campaign period.

“Ngayong laganap na naman ang fake news at disinformation, dapat extra ingat tayo sa mga nababasa natin online,” he said.

The President stressed that the election campaign period in the Philippines is usually coupled with intrigues and the exchange of fake news, thus, the voters have to be careful. He also took a swipe at keyboard warriors.

The keyboard warriors are known as the people who are responsible in spreading false information online. In his vlog, Pres. Bongbong Marcos said that what makes him happy when he attends a campaign rally is that he can see the real supporters of the alliance.

“Nakikita ko mismo yung mga sumusuporta sa atin sa Alyansa. Sila ay mga tunay na tao, tunay na Pinoy. Hindi lang ito mga keyboard warrior,” the President said.

Previously, Malacañang tagged former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte as a “one-make fake-news factory”. The statement of the Palace followed the former President’s accusation that Marcos Jr. is allegedly veering towards dictatorship to stay in power.
