Here’s what Janella Salvador said to those who say she’s “sayang”.
JANELLA SALVADOR – This is the powerful message of Janella Salvador when someone said she’s “sayang” because of her motherhood at a young age.
Through an intimate video blog shared on YouTube, young couple Markus Paterson and Janella Salvador introduced their son Jude to the public. Many people including their Star Magic family expressed support for them and warmly welcomed the baby. The announcement has ended the months of speculations about it.
And now, because of getting pregnant at a young age and being at the peak of her career, many also could not help but quip about her being “sayang”. Such a remark is a stigma in the Philippines. Most people thought that the start of motherhood is the end of one’s life. This is because of the fact that motherhood requires a lot and is a lifetime commitment which is why there’s that kind of stigma.
And because of this, Janella left a powerful message to those who think early motherhood this way. She admitted that she is triggered when some people say ‘Sayang ka. Sayang nanganak ka kaagad‘ but she believes otherwise.
Here’s her firm statement:
“Kasi, hindi naman ako sayang, eh. I’m still me. I’m still who I am. I’m still Janella Salvador. I can still sing. I can still act. I can still work. Bakit sayang, ‘di ba? Wala naman nag bago sa’kin so walang sayang. ‘Pag naging nanay ka na, hindi ka sayang. I can still do everything that I want to do. Na-delay lang nang konti, pero kaya ko pa rin gawin and gagawin ko pa rin.”
