Senator Ping Lacson rejected the offer of a “ceasefire” regarding his exposé on allegedly anomalous infrastructure projects in Taguig City.
The public feud between Lacson and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano stemmed from mutual accusations of corruption, budget insertions, and questionable personal wealth.
The senator first asserted that he would defend his integrity after the Senate Minority Leader raised questions regarding the increase in his wealth, which was stated in his latest Statement of Assets and Liabilities (SALN).
For his response to the attack on his integrity, Lacson’s team uncovered “damning evidence” of double billing, ghost projects, and extreme irregularities involving slope protection and flood control infrastructure in Taguig City. This city is the primary political bailiwick of the Cayetano family.
He described the offer as hypocritical, noting that the motive behind it was simply to buy time for a counter-attack.
“CEASEFIRE MY FOOT! Anong uri ng tao ang magde-declare ng giyera, toy gun ang dala at laway ang bala. Pag na-confront ng bomba, magre-request ng ceasefire, pabulong pa?” Lacson asked in a social media post.
He said the offer was conveyed to him after he announced that they possessed concrete evidence to support his allegations of “double billing” and other irregularities in Taguig City projects.
Furthermore, Lacson stated that he would present evidence during the continuation of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on flood control projects.
Previously, Sen. Ping Lacson shared that several people told him that Lino Cayeta, Sen. Cayetano’s brother, is willing to assist the investigation into the alleged anomalous projects in Taguig City. Sen. Cayetano and his younger brother appeared to have an issue with each other for a while now.
