Halalan 2022 will mark the change we will all be facing in the coming years based on who the majority will allow winning. This upcoming election this May is quite crucial and controversial. And among the most controversial presidential aspirants is Bongbong Marcos, the son of a late dictatorship whose administration had killed and tortured thousands of people.
The president who wins will define what our future will be and the type of leadership our future president will impose will speak volumes as to how it will affect the other generations. And the Top 5 presidential candidates in surveys were Vice President Leni Robredo, former Senator Bongbong Marcos, Sens. Panfilo Lacson and Manny Pacquiao, and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
And in the recent presidential interview with veteran and award-winning broadcaster Jessica Soho, BBM was the only one who declined the invitation. Many believed that this interview will make a great impact and will help people determine the most-deserving person to have the country’s highest position.
After watching the interview of the four aspiring presidents, the Primetime King of the Kapuso network, Dingdong Dantes, echoed what many people have said regarding the impact of this interview. In his personal opinion, he stressed how media can help “shape perspectives and present reality”. He added, “Lumitaw ‘yung may plano. Naging obvious kung sino ang pasok sa iyong kasalukuyang hinahanap.”
Dantes recognizes the effect of mainstream media in shaping the public’s opinion on matters such as who to vote for.
He also shared how his process will be when it comes to voting. He will select through planning first. He will plan accordingly through the research from valid and legit sources and not just the information getting viral on social media. He will also discern not through winnability or popularity but through the integrity, competence, and commitment of the aspirant.
And lastly, this is where responsibility as a citizen will be enacted. He stated, “Lastly, go out and vote. Claim your role as responsible citizens. You have a role in our society’s quest 4 genuine good governance.”
