DOH Found 5 Missing Travelers from South Africa After Giving False Information

The Department of Health (DOH) has found the five (5) missing travelers arrive from South Africa after allegedly giving wrong contact details.

According to the previous report, the authorities were looking for five of the seven returning overseas Filipinos from South Africa. According to the Department of Health, their workers are having difficulty tracking the aforementioned travelers since they provide incorrect contact information on their health declaration forms.

Meanwhile, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire revealed that five returning Filipinos’ had been identified, with two more being sought for re-examination as part of the ongoing vigilance against the introduction of the omicron strain of COVID-19.

According to Vergeire, the two other sought Filipinos arrived in the nation on November 22 and were tested for COVID-19 on November 28 and December 3, and both came back negative. Two of the five travelers detected are currently in quarantine awaiting test results, while the other two are in home quarantine after receiving negative test results.

On November 26, the last traveler completed a 14-day quarantine and tested negative for the virus. Between November 15 and November 29, the authorities recognized 99 of the 253 foreign and Filipino travelers who arrived from South Africa and adjacent countries.

76 of the 99 travelers are being held in isolation facilities, while the remaining 10 are being held in ‘home quarantine.’ The 14-day quarantine has been completed by 12 Filipino travelers and one foreigner. It should be noted that the Philippines has enacted a travel ban to prevent visitors from entering the nation who are from countries affected by the Omicron version.
