Comelec Says “No Substitution” for Bong Go’s Withdrawal of Presidential Bid

The Commission on Election (Comelec) said that Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s withdrawal of his presidential bid has no substitution.

According to Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez, there will be no substitution for Go’s resignation from the presidential election in 2022 because it is entirely voluntary. Jimenez went on to say that Travel would have to physically go to the Comelec office to withdraw his candidacy.

He explained that Go will be unable to attend their office on Tuesday, November 30, because it is a holiday and coincides with the 158th anniversary of the hero Andres Bonifacio’s birth. Due to the fact that today is a holiday, the Law Department does not have the authority to accept any files.

Go had previously announced his withdrawal from the presidential race because he did not want to put pressure on President Rodrigo Duterte. He also stated that his family does not wish for him to run for office.

“In the past few days, I realized that my heart and my mind are contradicting my actions.
