Will there be a Bongbong Marcos-Sara Duterte tandem?
Lakas-CMD President and House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez said that the tandem of former Senator Bongbong Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte is in the works.
Speculations have been circulating that the former presidential son and the presidential daughter are teaming up for the 2022 elections. Supporters of the Mayor have been pushing her to run for President however, she filed her certificate of candidacy for reelection that she later on withdrew.
Although BBM has already filed his COC for president, he did name who his vice president as well as his senatorial line will be up. Following Mayor Sara’s COC withdrawal, there were speculations about her possible team up with Bongbong Marcos.
However, the former Senator expressed that he will not slide down from his presidential candidacy to give way to Sara Duterte. According to Rep. Joey Salceda, the presidential daughter is aiming for the presidency as well.
On November 11, a day after Mayor Sara resigned from her regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago, she had her oath-taking under Lakas-CMD.
Based on the recent report from The Philippine Star, Lakas Pres. Martin Romualdez said that discussions are still happening between BBM and Mayor Sara for their possible tandem. The former senator is under Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.
“I’m hoping that they can work together. And I think the discussions between the two have been along those lines. We’re thinking very positively about this,” the House Majority Leader said, based on the recent Twitter post of News5 reporter Marianne Enriquez.
Romualdez also said that the decision of Sara Duterte regarding the position she is running for next year will be most likely revealed within the weekend.
