DIREK BOBET VIDANES – “Lunch Out Loud” director Direk Bobet Vidanes speaks about the competition between his former and current noontime shows.
In a previous article, during the first anniversary of TV5’s “Lunch Out Loud”, former Kapamilya Direk Bobet Vidanes opened up about the reason why he left “Its Showtime”. Accordingly, it was because it’s getting toxic there that it has already taken a toll on his health both mentally and physically. No matter how beautiful the program was, it was not healthy for him anymore. He stressed that everyone wanted to be a leader when initially, it was just him. But he cannot deny that he misses his family there. Being in his new show now, he found peace and suffers no pressure at all.
Also, he clarified that he did not apply to the show LOL. It has been offered to him after he left Showtime. He is now the creative producer who enhances whatever segment they would want to launch. Given his over 10 year-experience of being with Showtime, it surely is undeniable that he is an expert in this field.
And now, speaking about the competition between his former and current noontime shows including the longest one which is Eat Bulaga in the Kapuso network, he recognizes the presence of it. He stressed that “competition is competition” but it was never his way to compete in an unfair manner.
“Kasi siyempre, nasa matatag silang istasyon, frequency… malawak, technical. Ahhm, siguro po, yung content ang aking ipinagmamalaki sa Lunch Out Loud, na totally different,” he said. What he is proud of LOL is the “totally different content” it offers to the people.
He clarified as per PEP, “Ahhm, by doing that, hindi po ako nakikipag-compete sa Eat Bulaga, sa Showtime. Ahhm, kami po ay dagdag lang to give a helping hand.”
Direk added that people’s responses to noontime shows, just like when it comes to food, would always seek variations. He believes people will always try the other.
