DIREK BOBET VIDANES – After a long time, Direk Bobet Vidanes finally shares the real reason why he left his show in ABS-CBN, the Its Showtime.
“65 taon na pong nagseserbisyo ang ABS-CBN. ABS-CBN di bale, kahit na magwalis na tayo at magsasaka na lang tayo, sama-sama pa rin tayo.”
This is a statement Direk Bobet Vidanes has aired on national television in his program Its Showtime before the ABS-CBN shutdown. But when the shutdown happened, he stayed for a while but eventually left. Some of the hosts expressed “nagulat, nanghihinayang, na medyo nagtatampo” over what he did, and Vice Ganda, for his part, admitted that he also felt bad.
The comedian superstar once aired his feeling about it saying that he felt “nagtampo”, “Nagulat”, “nagtaka”, “nagtanong”, offended, and “naloka”. And just recently, during his birthday celebration in Lunch Out Loud, the new program he directs after leaving the Kapamilya channel, he opened up about this matter.
Emotional and already teary even before uttering words, he expressed that he really misses his Showtime family. He used to celebrate his birthdays with the hosts and it lasted for a decade. However, for certain reasons, he has to leave, and this is for his health and not because of the money that was accused of him.
He apologized to the people he wasn’t able to explain with as to why he left because he fears that they will leave with him. He wasn’t fired because he left. And he left for the sake of his health. Accordingly, the show was doing good but all the pressure being in the show has taken a toll on his health.
“Kasi po yung pagta-tatrabaho ko sa kabila, hindi na po healthy. Mamamatay po akong maaga. Ang ganda ng programa but it’s not healthy anymore,” he stated in hope that people will understand him this time. He added that despite its wasn’t healthy anymore, he loves the company and the show he put up.
