Boy Abunda Point of View On Toni Gonzaga’s Controversial BBM Interview

Here’s how Boy Abunda dissected the BBM interview of Toni Gonzaga

King of Talk Boy Abunda shared his point of view on the controversial interview that actress-host Toni Gonzaga did with presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos.

The said interview went controversial because the anti-Marcos criticized Toni and not just the son of former President Ferdinand Marcos. However, there were those who also defended the interviewer and the interviewee.

This was one of the things that Tito Boy pointed out during a recent interview, based on the report from ABS-CBN News. The award-winning TV host said that the public was very polarized as everyone has a different opinion.

However, he said that he will give his answer from point of view of a teacher. Boy Abunda said that there are different kinds of interviews such as contrarian, investigative, educational, promotional, and many more.

To my mind, it was a friendly, almost familial [interview]. To a certain point, it may have been a PR interview. I am not sure, it is a guess. This is an interpretation,” the King of Talk said.

He also acknowledged the points being raised by the Ateneo Martial Law Museum, that criticized Toni, were valid but Tito Boy asked, “Was that the point of the interview?”

Toni Gonzaga did her interview, prinaise siya, criniticize siya, pero this is not the monopoly of Toni Gonzaga,” he said. Boy Abunda then said that talking about the anti-Marcos discourse, he said that this question must be raised, “what happened to our justice system?”

Then, he shared that he attended a lecture of two University of the Philippines professors and he said that he was enlightened with so many things.

May points doon na kapag pinag-uusapan ang Martial Law, monopoly ito ng mga Marcoses, eh hindi lang naman mga Marcos ang participants ng Martial Law,” the TV host said.

Once again, Tito Boy pointed out that Toni Gonzaga has the right to choose whoever she wants to interview on her platform and it’s bad or good, it falls within her rights. Looking at the bigger picture, Boy Abunda said that it was simply a friendly interview and it was not intended to be a contrarian or investigative one.
