Vilma Santos will take a break from politics
Batangas 6th district Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto announced that she is not running for any position in 2022 but she has this clarification.
The Star for All Season has been serving the people of Lipa and the Batangas province for several years already. For the election next year, speculations surfaced that Ate Vi, as what she is fondly called in showbiz, will run for Senator.
However, that speculation might not happen this year. Based on the post on the Twitter Page of CNN Philippines, Vilma Santos has already announced that she will take a break next year from her political career.
In her statement, the congresswoman said she carefully thought about this decision. She considered the fact that the country is suffering from the pandemic and campaigning will not be done easily.
However, she clarified that does not mean that she will stop serving her fellow Filipinos. “Narito pa rin ako para maglingkod sa inyo,” Vilma Santos-Recto said. She also said that she has been serving her constituents for 23 years now and this will continue even though she is not participating in the election next year.
“Tuloy pa rin ang trabaho at serbisyo,” the lawmaker said. In her statement, she also thanked all her supporters. “Maraming maraming salamat po. Pagpalain nawa tayo ng Poon Maykapal,” the congresswoman said.
