Gelli de Belen was asked about her televised encounter with Regine Velasquez
Actress and TV host Gelli De Belen revisited her controversial one-on-one interview with Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.
The said interview took place on the defunct Kapuso talk show SIS, hosted by Gelli, her older sister, actress Janice de Belen, and actress Carmina Villarroel.
Just recently, Gelli guested on the Kapuso after prime talk show Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on September 21. She was asked about the most memorable episodes from her former talk show.
One of the moments that King of Talk Boy Abunda brought up was her much-discussed interview with Regine Velasquez, who is the ex-girlfriend of her husband, OPM singer Ariel Rivera.
“Yes, that was memorable,” Gelli de Belen expressed. After this, Tito Boy played the clip from the aforementioned interview again, in which Regine directly asked Gelli if she had been angry with her.
Gelli answered “yes” directly. Ate Reg and the studio audience could be seen laughing at Gelli’s straightforward answer.
“Alangan namang matuwa ako. ‘Di ba? Tanong, nagulat ka ba na nagalit ako sa ‘yo?” Gelli laughingly remarked. Then, Regine commented, “Actually, hindi, ineexpect ko na galit ka.”
Gelli de Belen shared that she laughs about it now, noting that the incident happened a long time ago. The actress-TV host also clarified that she and Regine are on very good terms.
“Regine and I are very-very okay. Nothing… basta, tapos na. That chapter of our life is over. We’ve grown from it,” the actress-host said.
Gelli believes that everything happens for a reason. For her, there are no coincidences in life. According to her, mistakes and trials are part of life and can serve as lessons for those who go through them.
She pointed out that if people don’t learn from the mistakes or challenges they face in life, then those things will inevitably happen again. Gelli also believes that in that situation, they all grew from that experience.
To recall, the controversy involving the three of them stemmed from the relationship Gelli and Ariel shared in their younger years. They separated, and during that time, Ariel began dating Regine. Eventually, Gelli and Ariel got back together and got married in 1997.
