Philippines To Probe 154 Cops Linked In Drug War

Philippines To Begin Probe On 154 Cops Over Drug War

PHILIPPINES TO PROBE 154 COPS – Based on initial findings, the Philippine Government may hold over 100 cops liable for their actions during the “drug war”.

However, this would be the first time an admission from the Palace would take place regarding abuses in the war on drugs. According to an article from Interaksyon, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra even reported the findings himself.

Furthermore, Guevearra’s announcement came weeks after the International Criminal Court (ICC) approved a formal investigation on the Philippines’ bloody war on drugs. Still, Duterte said that he would never cooperate with an international probe.

Duterte emphasized that the country already has its own justice system. Moreover, he explained that the foreigners would not know the ins and out of how the Philippines is run.

Previously, Duterte dared the ICC to place him on trial. Additionally, he said that he would gladly “rot in jail” for killing those who intend to destroy the Philippines.

Now, as Duterte said he would retire from politics, he jested that he would prepare his defense against the ICC. During his latest late-night address, he said that he’d just wait for the ICC to file cases again.

Meanwhile, Guevarra noted that the police involved in the drug war wasn’t only administratively liable. In fact, he stated that based on existing evidence, those linked in the case could be criminally liable as well.
