Former Miss Universe Philippines titleholder Rabiya Mateo trips during her final walk and this is what she said about it.
RABIYA MATEO – Crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo passes the crown to the new winner but accidentally trips during her final walk.
Last year’s Miss Universe Philippines winner is Rabiya Mateo. During the international pageant, her journey ended being a part of the Top 21 but despite failing to get the 5th Miss Universe crown for the country, she remained grateful for the opportunity and for the overwhelming support that was given to her during her reign.

And on Thursday, September 30, she passed the crown and the title which marked the end of her reign. Beatrice Gomez of Cebu City is the new titleholder and the other winners tailing her are:
- Miss Universe Philippines 2021: Beatrice Gomez of Cebu City
- Miss Universe Philippines Tourism 2021: Katrina Dimaranan of Taguig
- Miss Universe Philippines Charity 2021: Victoria Vincent of Cavite
- 1st runner-up: Maureen Wroblewitz of Pangasinan
- 2nd runner-up: Steffi Aberasturi of Cebu Province
The judges for this year are Joanne Golong-Gomez (commercial director of Hilton Manila), Sam Verzosa (CEO and co-founder of FRONTROW Philippines), Dr. Vicki Belo (founder and medical director of The Belo Medical Group), Jojie Lloren (former president of the Young Designers Guild and The Fashion and Design Council of the Philippines), and Sheila Romero (vice chairman of Air Asia Philippines).
And during the pageant, particularly in the part where Rabiya did her final walk as the titleholder, some unexpected happened. Walking in full poise, she accidentally slipped on her gown as she made her way to the back portion of the stage. She fell on her knees but quickly regained her poise and stood up. She managed to stand up and be confident again as she proceeded to situate herself to the side.
“I fell… Once you fall, you have to stand up,” she said to the host KC Montero. The male host agreed to what she said and indicated that it doesn’t matter how many times she feel but how she rose up does and that is the most important.
