Miss Universe PH 2021 Finalist Katrina Dimaranan Pays Tribute To Her Grandmother
MISS UNIVERSE PH 2021 – MUP 2021 finalist Katrina Jayne Dimaranan of Taguig City celebrated hitting 100,000 followers on IG with a sentimental post.
Katrina Jayne Dimaranan was crowned Bb. Pilipinas Tourism in 2012. She was crowned along with Miss Universe Philippines 2012 Janine Tugonon.
Dimaranan thought her dreams of having a chance to compete at the MUP stage was gone forever but she saw a glimmer of hope after the MUP announced that they are no longer working with Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. So, she grabbed her bags and flew to Manila to focus on her last bid to the national crown.
Katrina Jayne Dimaranan is celebrating 100,000 followers on Instagram. She marked the milestone by paying tribute to her grandmother Betty Rivera. She recreated the photo of her beloved grandmom that was taken during her first flight to the US in 1976.
In the IG video, Dimaranan said her grandmother was her biggest inspiration and the reason why she decided to join the local pageant. She also shared the story behind her grandmom’s vintage photo.

“Back in 1976, my Lola flew for the first time to the US. Her destination: San Francisco, California. She was attending a wedding for her eldest daughter. She wore an elegant pink outfit, a neck scarf, and as always she carried a blanket with her wherever she goes.”
“My mom even remembers that day because she was grabbing on my Lola’s skirt begging her to stay. The whole family was crying, although they knew that she was coming back after the wedding. But part of them knew Lola always wanted to fly, and achieve bigger things for her family,” she wrote.

The 28-year-old model also recalled one of the greatest lessons she learned from her grandmother. She said, “Always find your own path and focus ka lang apo,” and up to this day, I carry that with me. Just like she carries her blanket, I will always carry my Lola’s words with me. And just like her, I dream high, to soar high.”
Dimaranan and 28 other MUP delegates have started the lockin preparations for the beauty pageant’s prelim activities. The coronation night will be on September 25. In a previous article, Joanna Maria Rabe of Zambales announced on Monday that she’s withdrawing from the pageant due to health reasons.
