This is how Vice Ganda fell in love with his longtime partner.
VICE GANDA – Kapamilya superstar Vice Ganda reveals how his feelings with his partner Ion Perez built up until he finally fell in love with him.
During Showtime’s 10th anniversary, Kapamilya superstar Vice Ganda introduced Ion Perez to the public as his partner. This October, they will be reaching their 3rd year as a couple. Through the years, they have surpassed the negative feedback and criticisms from the people about their relationship. Same-gender partnership, although it remains to be a taboo in society, is already tolerable and acceptable to many.
In a previous article, he addressed the rumors about being married to the Kuya Escort of Its Showtime. He clarified that there’s not a wedding that has happened yet and if something like that happens, it’s none of anyone’s business. He quipped, “Ngayon lang po ako magsasalita sa isyu na ‘yan, ito na — wala kayong pakialam.”
And just recently, in the podcast of Jugs and Teddy, the Soundtrip With Jugs and Teddy, he opened up about he fell in love with him. Accordingly, he really found him handsome the first time he saw him the reason why approve of him becoming Showtime’s Kuya Escort. He was shy and not interactive at all the reason why the management initially wanted him out but something’s different in him the reason why he insisted that he should stay in the show.
Vice admitted, “Naku-cute-an din ako paunti-unti, pero ‘di ko talaga siya bet agad. Ang pinaka na-in love talaga ako sa kanya, ang bait talaga. ‘Yung buong circle ko, gusto si Ion. Hindi ko pa gusto si Ion talaga, gusto na siya noong buong circle ko.”
He was “malandi” to him but not on a deeper level of affection, just like how “malandi” he was to everyone else before. And falling in love with him is not something that happened really fast like a free fall. It was a slow burn. Falling for him, in his part, happened slowly.
Vice was dating someone before who his circle doesn’t want. And there came Ion. They dated but he felt not a bit of spark. He can’t deny that he is handsome but there’s really no spark. He was dating someone else while he was dating him and this part is something that has hurt Ion.
And there came a time that the other one he was dating hurt him. Realization struck him then. Someone was there all along and that someone is Ion. He shared in the podcast:
“Tapos nu’ng na-hurt ako, sabi ko, ay ‘di ko to deserve. Ang deserve ko talaga, ‘yung mabait, ‘yung matino. Para naman akong tanga, para naman akong gago, dasal ako nang dasal sa Diyos, ‘Lord, bigyan mo naman ako ng mamahalin, bigyan mo naman ako ng magmamahal sa ‘kin.’ Pero pinipili ko naman ‘yung ‘di ako mahal, ‘yung ‘di naman mabuti sa akin. Tapos ‘eto, ‘yung mabuti nasa harapan ko tapos hindi ko naman pinapansin.”
