Filipino Registrants Aired Frustration at Longlines & Early Cutoff in Comelec Offices

A lot of Filipino registrants have expressed their frustrations at longlines and early cutoff at the offices of Commission on Elections.

Many voter registrants have expressed their disappointment for lining up for days to ensure they will be included in the daily cutoff as the deadline nears on September 30, 2021 (Thursday).

Some applicants were frustrated for queuing for 10 hours since the day before at a mall in Paco, Manila for the voter registration in the sixth district. However, 150 walk-in applicants will be accommodated.

Several registrants Leonardo Madrazo and his wife have lined up at 6:00 pm on Monday while waiting for the Tuesday registration. It was their third time to line up but they were always failed to make it before cutoff.

Another resident named Louie Marcelo accompanied his children to register but they failed to make it make the cutoff. It was their fourth day to line up and lambasted the management for not following the rules.

Some people criticized the Comelec’s management for the lack of system making applicants who failed to make the cutoff fall in line again. They were hoping that the limited number of cutoff with be adjusted.

“Walang pagbabago tapos 150 lang ang cutoff nila. Sana dinagdagan,” applicant Annabel dela Cerna said.

SM North EDSA in Quezon City were accommodating 300 voter applicants. Trinoma mall in Quezon City have also 300 slots for voter applicants.

SM City Marikina are limiting the cutoff to only 500 applicants on Tuesday after the mall guards gave out stubs to ensure that social distancing will be strictly observed.
