On Thursday (August 12, 2021), the Philippine National Police chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar reminded the food delivery riders to obey the quarantine guidelines and health protocols amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“Sa mga nakalipas na araw, ilang ulit na nakatanggap ang inyong PNP ng mga reklamo at sumbong tungkol sa mga paglabag ng mga delivery riders,” Eleazar.

The PNP chief has ordered the station commanders and police chiefs to work with business establishments and local government units for the strict implementation of health protocols amid the health crisis.

The police official also reminded the delivery workers to strictly observe the existing minimum public health safety standards and quarantine measures to avoid sanctions and penalties.

Eleazar said that police officers would accost delivery riders who will violate the health protocols although they were recognizing the sacrifices of the delivery employees amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

He is also encouraging the public to immediately report anyone who will defy the quarantine guidelines and to send photos or videos as evidence.

Last year, delivery workers have been hailed as ‘frontliners’ for their hardships and sacrifices to perform their job properly amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Filipino netizens even lauded the riders for their dedication at job.

However, the government repeatedly reminds the public including workers and delivery riders to follow the health standards to prevent the further spread of the respiratory disease.
