Update on PH Hospitals Amid Upward Trend of COVID-19 Cases Now

PH HOSPITALS – Some hospitals in the Philippines have already reached their full capacity for the COVID-19 cases amid the upward trend now.

The Philippines is currently faced with a hard battle against COVID-19. Undeniably, things are tougher now following the Delta variant reaching the country.

The national government closed the borders of the country to prevent the entry of the Delta variant. It is known to be more transmissible than the other variants thus it caught attention. However, it spreads fast and even the Department of Health (DOH) believe that it is not impossible that cases of it would recorded in the country.

A few weeks ago, DOH confirmed local transmissions of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in PH. There are also cases of returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) who tested positive for the said variant.

The authorities and the people are alarmed by the presence of the Delta variant in PH. Even the business sector believes that an action has to be taken to prevent its possible spread.

In the pursuit to prevent what happened in India from happening in PH, Metro Manila is placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) until August 20. The whole nation is still under community quarantine measures.

Unfortunately, there is an upward trend in the COVID-19 cases in PH now. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, some PH hospitals already reached their full capacity amid the increasing coronavirus cases.

According to the report, some of the PH hospitals that are experiencing the upward trend of the COVID-19 cases now includes the Makati Medical Center (MMC), Capitol Medical Center, and the East Avenue Medical Center. Many of their COVID-19 beds are already occupied.

Furthermore, there is also a long wait before patients would be admitted in the Medical City in Pasig. All of the 19 ICU beds for COVID-19 patients are occupied and some patients are currently intubated in the emergency room.
