Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez makes a clarification about her planned “retirement” and what will happen next after her sold-out concert.
Last year, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez shared that she was preparing for her retirement by then. She is set to hold her two-night Finale concert on October 17 and 18, 2026, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, where both shows are sold out, with the second night being offered for free to fans.
However, despite this concert marking the end of her era of major concerts, the veteran singer clarified that the retirement she has envisioned does not mean completely abandoning the things she loves as an artist.
Since she was 17, she has maintained a busy performance schedule throughout the years. Regine admitted that deciding to stop doing major concerts is an emotional step for her because performing has become a significant part of her life. However, she also recognizes that things have changed as she has gotten older.
She acknowledged that her voice has changed and that she was not as physically perfect as she used to be because recovering from performances has become more difficult, as she joked about having “rayuma.”
The Asia’s Songbird went on to say, “I feel very blessed though that I still was, you know, given the chance to even say, ‘Oh, this is my last big concert.’ Kasi yung iba nga, they never even had the chance to say goodbye, you know. At least ako, nagkaroon pa ako ng chance to even do this.”
She expressed that she sees her Finale concert as a blessing because she gets the opportunity to properly say goodbye to an important chapter of her career. She expressed gratitude to her fans after the concert sold out in just 45 minutes.
While major concerts may soon become a thing of the past, Regine emphasized that retirement is not happening yet. She revealed that she still has projects lined up for 2027.
Beyond this, she envisions herself spending more time with her family, particularly her husband Ogie Alcasid and their 14-year-old son, Nate. After decades of working, she said she would welcome the chance to slow down, travel, and simply enjoy life.
