Kapuso actor Ruru Madrid recalled the time when Kai Sotto did this that made the latter gain the actor’s respect.
Actress Rere Madrid and basketball player Kai Sotto’s wedding was held last May in an intimate ceremony. Many people were surprised by their wedding announcement amid the swirling pregnancy rumors online.
Shortly after tying the knot, the couple announced that they are expecting their first baby together.
Recently, during the appearance of Ruru Madrid on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the Kapuso actor looked back on how he handled the major life changes involving his youngest sister.
As the older brother, Ruru had always been protective of his sister. However, his partner, Bianca Umali, encouraged him to ease up and give his sibling the space to feel comfortable opening up to him. Bianca also played a key role in initiating the conversation, highlighting her significant influence as the siblings navigated an important new chapter in their lives.
He was reminded that protecting his sister also meant making her feel safe enough to share important matters with him.
When the pregnancy test was shown to him, he shared that he was not angry. Instead, he assured his sister that she had nothing to fear and that he was happy for her and would support her whatever happened.
He talked to Kai after the revelation, and the basketball player, despite his basketball commitments, personally joined them when they told their parents about Rere’s pregnancy. At that time, Kai was in Japan for his sports commitments.
“Mula dun, sobrang nirespeto ko si Kai, kasi talagang ginawa niya kahit sobrang busy siya sa Japan. May games siya. Ang nangyari, umuwi lang siya para sabihin. And the next day, bumalik na siya ng Japan,” he shared.
What Kai did left a lasting impression on Ruru.
The Kapuso actor added, “So, na-appreciate ko po yung tao kasi hindi naman po lahat ng lalake, e, may ganoong tapang na harapin kung ano po yung sitwasyon.”
Now that they are officially brothers-in-law, Ruru said he has gotten to know Kai better through their bonding moments and double dates with Bianca. He described Kai as a good person and has known him as someone who doesn’t feel the need to impress others.
