Manila Mayor’s Office, Delivery Riders Victimized by Faudster’s Fake Bookings
Five delivery riders have been victimized by fake bookings after they were ordered to send food deliveries to the Manila Mayor’s Office.
Isko Moreno Domagoso, the mayor of Manila, urged the public not to prank delivery riders who are struggling to earn, especially amid the tough times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to him, the delivery riders’ primary goal is to make money in a fair manner.
“Alam naman po natin na marami ang gusto lang maghanapbuhay nang tapat at marangal. Huwag na natin sila i-prank, pagtripan o i-harass sa mga pekeng deliveries natin. This is not a laughing matter,” said Domagoso.
Yorme’s call prompted after five delivery riders were allegedly “scammed” by fake food deliveries named after Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso and sent the orders to the Office of the Mayor on Thursday afternoon. Based on the post of Manila PIO, five fake orders were processed on different mobile delivery apps using different international mobile numbers.

In this regard, Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) Chief Julius Leonen said that they have already reported the incident to the Cybercrime Division of the Manila Police District (MPD). Apart from this, he said, they will also contact the mobile delivery apps regarding the incident.
Leonen was also told that Yorme Isko had just paid for all the food delivered worth P5,000 as assistance to the delivery riders who were victims of fraud. The pizza dishes delivered by the riders were distributed to the employees to share.
