Councilor of Tayabas City Nabbed Over Harassment Complaint from City Hall Employee
A female employee of Tayabas City hall files a complaint against the incumbent town councilor over the alleged harassment towards her.
After a complaint of sexual harassment and touching the private area of a female employee, authorities detained and charged an incumbent city councilor. Dino Marquez Romero, 51, a married Tayabas City Councilor and a resident of Lovely Village, was identified as the suspect.
The victim, named as Anna, 22, of Barangay Camaysa, according to a police report issued by P/Major Romar Pacis, chief of the Tayabas City Police Station to Quezon Provincial Police Director P/Col. Joel Villanueva. The event occurred in the Sangguniang Panglungsod’s kitchen, which is located at J.P. Rizal St., Barangay San Diego Zone 1.
Anna was allegedly washing coffee mugs in the kitchen at 2:00 p.m. when the councilor approached him from behind, according to the police report. The councilor is said to have hugged her and then put his hand on her chest.
When she tried to shout and call for help, the councilor’s persecution came to an end. The victim was so shaken by the experience that she filed a charge of act of lasciviousness and sexual harassment against the city councilor the next day.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Tayabas is currently developing a case against the councilor. The councilor has yet to make a public statement on the incident.
