Police Arrested the Alleged Mastermind Behind the 2 Bus Attacks in Cotabato
Police authorities arrested the alleged mastermind behind the two (2) separated bus attacks within the Cotabato province.
On Monday, the suspected mastermind behind the bombing of a Yellow Bus Line bus in North Cotabato on January 27 and the burning of another YBL bus in North Cotabato on June 3 was apprehended in Kidapawan City. According to a GMA News report, at least four people have died as a result of the two bus attacks.

According to the Joint Task Force Central, Ali Akbar was apprehended at 5 a.m. in Purok 3 in Barangay East Patadon, Kidapawan City. Akbar is wanted for double murder and multiple frustrated murder counts, according to his arrest warrant.
The warrant was issued by Branch 23 of the 12th Judicial Region’s Regional Trial Court, according to the task force. The commander of the 602nd Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Roberto Capulong, described Akbar as a “bomb and improvised explosive device (IED) expert and extortionist connected to the Dawlah Islamiya-Hassan Group.”
Two IEDs, one blasting cap, multiple IED components, and an ISIS flag were found on the suspect. On Jan. 27, 2021, a bomb went off near the Yellow Bus Line unit in Tulunan, North Cotabato.
A fruit vendor was killed, and three others were injured, according to reports. On June 3, 2021, another YBL unit was destroyed in M’Lang, North Cotabato, killing three people who were trapped inside.
