Materials Used for Making Bombs, Firearms Discovered in Zamboanga Sibugay Confiscated

Authorities seized the materials allegedly used for making bombs and dangerous firearms after it was discovered in Zamboanga Sibugay.

During an operation in Zamboanga Sibugay, police recovered bomb-making materials, firearms, and illegal drug paraphernalia. In a raid organized at Hussin Sali alias ‘Hussin Askalani’s hideout in Sitio Sitin, Barangay Solar, Olutanga town, the war equipment was confiscated.

Sali, 39, a member of the Barahama Ali criminal group involved in kidnappings, drug trafficking, and contract killings in Zamboanga Sibugay and nearby provinces, was not caught in his hideout, according to Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, director of Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9).

A.45 caliber gun with a magazine assembly, a black holster, a hand grenade, two plastic bottles with a detonating cord and blasting cap, ammonium nitrate, concrete nails, and other items were confiscated in Sali’s hideout.

Sali is suspected of being engaged in the February 26 killings of Vice Mayor Restituto Calonge of Mabuhay, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Engr. Edgar Pampanga. In front of the Mabuhay municipal hall, the two were shot and killed.
