DUTERTE – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte found the idea of running for vice president a good one but stressed that he will fulfill a promise.

Aside from the speculations on who might take the presidential bid in the 2022 Elections, there are also speculations on whether or not Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte will run for an office again. It is despite the previous move of the Chief Executive laying out his plan to retire from politics in 2022.

There are rumors that a tandem of him running for vice president with his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, running for president next year. On the other side of rumors, there are a lot of people calling for the said team-up in the next election.

However, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has previously put an end to the rumors and calls. She stressed that it will never happen and it is even his father who is against the idea of her running for presidency. He does not want her to experience what presidents are going through.

Recently, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke again about the calls for him to run for vice president. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, he tagged it as a “good idea” but he has a commitment in case House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez will decide to take on the vice presidential race.

According to the President, he has yet to fulfill all his promises during the election campaign period in 2016. He named corruption which he said he is doing, the reduction of crimes, drugs, and others which includes infrastructure. But the Chief Executive also revealed his commitment to Romualdez.

Based on the report, Pres. Duterte revealed that during the previous meeting to resolve the issue about the leadership of the House, he told House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez that he will support him if he will run for vice president.

And I will hold on to that commitment,” the Chief Executive said.

As for the calls for Mayor Sara to run for president, the Davao City Chief Executive expressed that she’s given to decide until July. She’s previously revealed that she has no intention to take the presidential race next year but her partymates are asking her to re-consider her decision and think about it.
