WalangPasok: Several Local Government Units Declare Class Suspensions in These Areas for June 1 (Tuesday)

#WALANGPASOK – Several local government units announced class suspensions in some areas due to Tropical Storm Dante.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported that Tropical Storm Dante would continue to affect the weather condition over some parts of the country.

Dante with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 90 kph would bring an inclement weather condition in most parts of the country.  It was last spotted at 290 kilometers northeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.

Class Suspensions

PAGASA also raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 in 16 areas and TCWS No. 2 in three areas.

Several local government units have declared the suspension of classes due to the effects of Tropical Storm Dante. The cancellation of classes have been made due to possible power interruption and signal outage amid inclement weather.

Governor Ben Evardone canceled the classes and government work in Eastern Samar as the province remains under signal no. 2. Mayor Dexter Uy also announced class suspension in Catbalogan City.

“Government agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness or response to disaster and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services will continue their operations,” Evardone said.

Gov. Edwin Ongchuan also suspends the Government work in Northern Samar starting 1:00 pm today. The LGUs also announced the suspension of classes in all levels in private and public schools in Compostela, Monkayo, and Montevista in Davao de Oro.
