PAGASA Releases Latest Update About Tropical Storm Dante

The state weather bureau PAGASA raised Signal No. 2 in three areas and Signal No. 1 in 16 areas due to Tropical Storm Dante.

On Tuesday (June 1), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Storm Dante would continue to affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA said that Dante has been last spotted at 290 kilometers northeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte. It has maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

The tropical storm is expected to bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers or thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, the northern portion of Cebu including Bantayan and Camotes Islands, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Sorsogon, Masbate, Samar provinces and the rest of Eastern Visayas.

The localized thunderstorms would bring partly cloudy to cloudy condition with isolated rainshowers over the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Abra, Benguet Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan.

Metro Manila and the remaining parts of the country are expected to experience similar weather condition.

The weather agency has also raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 and 2 in some areas wherein heavy and intense rains are expected from Dante.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over eastern section of Visayas, southern Luzon, and eastern section of Mindanao would be moderate to rough. The surrounding sea conditions over western section of Luzon, the rest of Visayas and Mindanao would be slight to moderate.
