Wake Behind Barangay Hall Allegedly Violated Health Protocol Halted

Authorities accosted a wake behind the barangay hall in Tondo, Manila for allegedly violating the government’s health protocol.

The government’s health protocol against COVID-19 was found to be broken during a wake conducted close behind the barangay hall. Several bottles of booze were discovered in the aftermath by police.

Aside from that, at a wake held in the back of Barangay 95, Barangay Hall, a large number of attendees were discovered breaking social distance rules. They were able to oversee the event, according to village councilor Edgardo Feliciano, but after they momentarily left the area to have dinner, additional people came to the wake.

Ronald Lee, the barangay chairman, agreed that the local administration had made mistakes in preventing the incident, but added that they had already learned their lesson. Lee emphasized that the family is welcome to hold the wake, but that no alcohol or gambling is permitted.

The police just issued a warning to those attending the wake and advised them of health precautions. Authorities then permitted closest family members to stay in the aftermath.
