Person Allegedly Behind Selling Vaccination Slots To Public Surrenders To MMDA
PERSON ALLEGEDLY SELLING VACCINATION SLOTS – Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Philippines has a priority list for those who can get inoculated first.
However, the system has allegedly been compromised with bad actors trying to manipulate the list to gain profits. Recently, there were reports of selling vaccination slots amid the scarcity of available doses.
But, as of Wednesday, the man allegedly behind the deals surrendered to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority. According to reports from ABS-CBN, the man operated in Mandaluyong City and provides a bump up in the slots for vaccination.

On social media, there were circulating screenshots that showed vaccine slots were up for sale for at least P10,000 in the city. Furthermore, buyers can even choose what type of vaccine brand they could get.
Meanwhile, MMDA Chief Benhur Abalos and Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos said they have contacted the National Bureau of Investigation to look into the allegations. Moreover, the person who surrendered himself was not an employee of the city hall according to the MMDA Chief.
Currently, the Philippines has a scarce supply of COVID-19 vaccines. As such, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque suggested that those who are on the priority list but denied inoculation should be placed as least priority.
As of now, the Philippines has a steady supply of Sinovac vaccines. But, other brands are lacking in volume. In lieu of this, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) said they would study “vaccine mixing”, in an attempt to mix Sinovac with other brands.
