39 Individuals Involved in an Illegal Cockfight Operation Biliran Arrested
Authorities have arrested 39 individuals involved in an illegal cockfight operation in Naval town in Biliran province.
Thirty -nine individuals were arrested in an illegal cockfighting operation in Naval town are facing a case of violation of Presidential Decree No. 1602 for illegal gambling. A total of 21 fighting chickens were confiscated, seven of which were dead, gaffing paraphernalia, and bet money worth P10,134.

The operation was carried out after receiving a report of illegal cockfighting. Due to the pandemic, cockfighting operations were banned in the said province to prevent the spread of the virus.
Recently, nine owners of battle cocks were apprehended by police on an illegal cockfighting arena during “Oplan Galugad” in Malabon City. The police were conducting “Oplan Galugad” along Yanga St. in Brgy. Maysilo when they discovered a group of people engaging in illegal cockfighting, also known as “tupada,” in the city.
The detainees were taken to the police station. The “sabungeros” will be charged with breaching PD 1602 (Illegal Cockfighting, locally known as “Tupada”), as amended by R.A. 9287.
