Doctors Speak on NCR Plus Community Quarantine Measure

DOCTORS – Some doctors revealed their side on the community quarantine measure in NCR Plus amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Philippines is currently on a tougher battle against the spread of COVID-19 in the country. The recent spike alarmed a lot of people. For several days now, there is at least 7,000 new cases of the disease recorded in the country daily.

The surge in the COVID-19 cases in PH urged the national government to implement the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) measure in the National Capital Region (NCR) again. It was also imposed in the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal for several days.

Currently, the NCR and the said nearby provinces, collectively called as the NCR Plus, are under a Modified ECQ. There is a total of five (5) days left for its implementation before a new decision will take place.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, some doctors revealed their side on the community quarantine measure in the NCR Plus. They believe that the quarantine measure must not be eased yet amid the high cases of COVID-19 in the country.

Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center COVID-19 task force chairman Dr. Juliano Zacarias Panganiban said that the ECQ last year is very different from the recent ECQ imposed. Based on the report, he cited the presence of the people amid the implementation of the strictest quarantine measure.

“Hindi gaya ng ECQ like one year ago, nag-ECQ, walang katao-katao sa daanan. ‘Yong nag-ECQ tayo a month ago, useless,” Dr. Panganiban said.

Philippine General Hospital COVID-19 referral center spokesman Dr. Jonas del Rosario believe that it is better to extend the MECQ for another week or two (2) weeks so the admissions will be reduced. According to him, the emergency rooms are still full and as well as the intensive care units (ICUs).
