Young Mother Criticized For Promoting Teenage Pregnancy On Socila Media
A 15-year-old mother earned criticisms form the online community for promoting teenage or early pregnancy on social media.
Teenage pregnancy is one of the most common problems among teenagers today, not only in the Philippines but in many other countries around the world. Early marriages almost often result in an unwanted pregnancy.
The Civil Registry Statistics of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has registered two (2) 10-year-old girls who gave birth recently, which is the youngest case of early pregnancy. The PSA announcement that two ten-year-olds had given birth worried the Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM).
Meanwhile, a teen girl, who was 15 years old at the time, was chastised by Facebook users for encouraging teenage pregnancy. At such a young age, the teen girl was already a mother.

Jenifer Ong, according to her Facebook profile, happily announced the birth of her first child. It is not bad for her to be a mother at such a young age, rather than denying it and endangering the life of a poor child, she believes.
Her parents, she said, are there to assist with all of our baby’s needs. Despite acknowledging that becoming a young mother is difficult, she continues to support it as being worthwhile.
She proudly stated that she is promoting teen pregnancy because the health crisis is claiming people’s lives one by one. According to Ong, now is the best time for us to have a child.
“Mahirap maging batang ina guys pero worth it! Try it! I AM PROMOTING TEENAGE PREGNANCY para sa bayan! Dahil nauubos ang mga tao dahil sa virus [COVID-19], oras na para magpadami tayo! Spread the love guys,” she wrote in her post.
