Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ on the Cross

A Commemoration of the Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ on the Cross

SEVEN LAST WORDS – Here are the 7 last words or statements of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, on the Cross as He fulfilled His mission.

One of the important religious events for Christians is the Holy Week. It is the peak of the fasting and a commemoration of the suffering, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

This year 2021, Easter fell on April 4. Today, Christians observe the Good Friday which is held on Friday before the Easter Sunday. It is a commemoration of the sufferings and death of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ

Christians believe that it is on this day that the Son of God died. He was arrested after He was betrayed by Judas and he experiences different forms of suffering.

Despite being the Son of God, Jesus did not step back from wearing the crown of thorns that the soldiers made for him. He was badly hurt before he went his way to Mount Calvary carrying a heavy cross. He can hardly stand but His love for the people outweighed the pains.

Jesus Christ fulfilled His mission and freed the people from sins to give us a new start. On the Cross, the Son of God has spoken seven (7) times. Christians call it as the seven last words of Jesus Christ. Despite what was done to Him, the Son of God asked the Father to forgive the people.

Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ

  • Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.
  • Today you will be with me in paradise.
  • Woman, behold, thy son! Behold, thy mother!
  • My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
  • I thirst.
  • It is finished.
  • Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.
