Active COVID-19 Cases In PH Reach New Highs

ACTIVE COVID-19 CASES IN PH – A year into the pandemic, the active coronavirus coronavirus cases in the Philippines topped 50,000.

Along with this, the number of new daily cases grew to 4,578. Previously, it was around August during the peak of the pandemic in the PH where numbers grew this large. As such, OCTA research warns of another peak at around 5,000 cases by the end of March.

Furthermore, the Department of Health (DOH) also reported 87 fatalities due to the virus. With this, the number of COVID-19 deaths in the Philippines grew to 12,694.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries in the country reached 546,912. Currently, the number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines is at 611,618.

According to the DOH, the number of active cases in the country is merely 51,012 or 8.5 percent of the total number of cases. On the other hand, the percentage of recoveries and deaths was at 89.4 and 2.08 respectively.

However, with the presence of new variants and even a homegrown virus strain, OCTA reserach believes that the number of cases could spike significantly if left unattended.
