Charo Santos Says, “I’m A Failure”, Here’s Why She Said This

This is why Charo Santos said she was a failure before.

CHARO SANTOS – ABS-CBN boss Charo Santos shares a story of her depression and the reason why she felt like she was a failure before.

From being an actress to an unexpected leader, Charo Santos is truly one of the highly-respected and well-accomplished women in the show business industry. Aside from being the host of the longest-running television drama anthology in the country, the Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK), she also served as the Chief Executive Officer of ABS-CBN Corporation for four years and Chief Content Officer and President of ABS-CBN University.

In a sit-down interview with Toni Gonzaga, she talked about the time when she was diagnosed with depression. A lot of factors have contributed for this to happen to her and the biggest of them is when ABS-CBN fell down way back in 2005.

“One instance is when we lost our leadership in Mega Manila from being number 1 for 17 years, we dropped to number 2 in Mega Manila. And I really took it to heart. Parang dropping to number 2 was a rejection of my person. Ni-relate ko sa pagkatao ko na parang ‘What am I here for? I’m a failure,'” Ma’am Charo shared.

Such incident has really brought her to her low point questioning and doubting herself. She had a talk therapy for four months which led her to rediscover and find herself again. It was accordingly the “most liberating” feeling she ever had to look at herself and accept the person that she is.

“You are not defensive anymore about anything. You know your strengths. You appreciate your strengths but you also have the humility to accept your weaknesses,” she added. After her therapy, she returned whole and slowly things for her fell into its right places.
