Bato police investigator Staff Sergeant James Iglopas said that the 33-year-old cop saw his wife in bed with the victim in Barangay Santiago in the said municipality at 11:35 PM.

Iglopas said that the policeman prevented the victim from escaping and drew his 9 mm pistol.

The cop and the victim struggled for possession of the gun, which eventually discharged, with the victim shot on the right thigh.

The victim was taken to a hospital in Nabua for medical treatment while the police officer surrendered to the police.

The police was assigned as a Special Action Force member of the Philippine National Police in Samar.

Iglopas said that the couple had not been on good terms and are not living together prior to the incident, based on the report.

“The suspect, who was on vacation, went home that night to visit his wife and children,”
