Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos’ Camp to Appeal to SC

BONGBONG MARCOS – The camp of the Former Senator broke their silence after the Supreme Court junked the election protest.

The Election 2016 results held Leni Robredo as the vice president of the Republic of the Philippines. The widow of former Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse Robredo is from Naga City and ran under the Liberal Party.

However, her victory was immediately challenged as former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. made accusations of irregularities. The former presidential son filed an election protest before the Supreme Court.

Recently, the Supreme Court has given its decision on the Marcos-Robredo case over the results of the vice presidential election 2016. The Court dismissed the election protest filed by the former Senator.

Robredo is happy over the decision of the Supreme Court and wants to focus in finding ways to address the present problems of the country. She wants to seize the moment and she is not thinking about political plans for the election 2022 yet.

The Supreme Court announced that it was a unanimous decision of 15 magistrates to dismiss the election protest filed by Marcos. Seven (7) judges concurred the case while eight (8) judges concurred with the results of the election.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, in the recount in votes from three (3) provinces, Robredo is 15,000 votes ahead of Marcos. As for former Sen. Bongbong Marcos’ camp, the fight is not yet over.

Marcos’ camp is seeking for clarification whether the case was “used in a generic or general sense” or in a strict legal sense that pertains to the manual recount. Meanwhile, the camp of the former Senator stressed they do not refute the decision of the judges.

Also, they wanted clarification on the decision of the judges which was announced to be “unanimous” amid the 7-8 divisions cited by the Court. Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos is considering a national post in the Elections 2022.
