SUPREME COURT – The Court released its decision on the election protest filed by former Senator Bongbong Marcos against Vice President Leni Robredo.

While the presidential election last 2016 was a landslide victory for Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the vice presidential race ended with an election protect. Former Senator Bongbong Marcos filed an election protest that challenged the victory of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo.

Undeniably, both Marcos and Robredo have a lot of supporters. He ran as the party-mate of the late former Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago who vied for presidency.

Vice Pres. Leni Robredo ran under the Liberal Party. Currently, as her term is about to end, she is eyed as one of those who might run for presidency in the Election 2022.

As for Robredo, the decision to run for president is not planned. She is not closing her doors but she is currently focusing on helping in responding to the issues and problems in the country.

It’s been years that the election protest filed by former Sen. Bongbong Marcos contesting the victory of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo was filed. Recently, the case came to a conclusion as the Supreme Court gave its decision.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Supreme Court junked the election protest filed by former Sen. Bongbong Marcos against Vice Pres. Leni Robredo. It was a unanimous decision as all 15 SC magistrates voted to dismiss the protest.

Seven (7) justices fully concurred in the dismissal while the eight (8) other justices concurred in the results. According to ABS-CBN, a source said that “generic and repetitious allegations” has contributed to the dismissal of the case.
