Vice Pres. Robredo expressed her belief that the election protest against her will get a fair judgment.
ROBREDO – Vice Pres. Leni Robredo expressed that the people need to trust the Supreme Court over the ruling in the election protest filed by former Sen. Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. against her.
The issue regarding the vice presidency of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo has not yet come to an end. Reportedly, former Sen. Bongbong Marcos has previously filed an election protest against the Vice President.
The former Senator was also a vice presidential candidate during the 2016 national election. He was the running mate of the late Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago. Vice Pres. Robredo was the running mate of former Department of Interior and Local Government Sec. Manuel ‘Mar’ Roxas.
Recently, a news report entailing the statement of Vice Pres. Robredo asking the trust of the public to the SC in handling the election protest broke in.
Based on a recent news report in Inquirer, the Vice President said during a television interview that she will have faith will the High Court despite some concerns.
The Vice President expressed to GMA News TV her belief that the public needs to trust the SC notwithstanding the people’s fear that the High Court will not be just.
Furthermore, Vice Pres. Robredo said that the SC is “the one that decides what is fair and what is not, what is right and what is wrong” being the “last bastion of democracy”. She expressed her belief that the case would be decided fairly.
“We need not be scared,” Vice Pres. Robredo who won more than 260,000 election votes against former Sen. Marcos said according to the report.
Last year, the decision of the High Court to allow the burial of the former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. elicited many reactions and concerns. It has also sparked lots of news headlines and protest rallies.
Based on a previous news report, Sen. Risa Hontiveros and Vice Pres. Robredo had broken their silence regarding the unannounced burial of the late dictator at Libingan ng mga Bayani.
The Vice President stressed the Marcos family’s act of keeping the information about the interment of the late dictator. She compared the Marcos family to a ‘thief in the night’.
Vice Pres. Robredo also noted that the Marcoses committed a total disrespect of the law for keeping the interment of former Pres. Marcos.
