VP Leni Robredo Tells Bongbong Marcos To Move On After Recount Results
LENI ROBREDO – Vice President Leni Robredo was shown to lead the vote recount further emphasizing proof of her victory against Senator “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in the 2016 elections.
Marcos was adamant that he had been cheated off of the Vice Presidential position by Leni Robredo’s camp. With this, he pushed for a voting recount.
Results have shown the Vice President won over Marcos with 15,000 votes. Robredo’s lawyer, Ma. Bernadette Sardillo spotlighted an opinion by Associate Justice Benjamin Caguiao.
He recommended the dismissal of Marcos’ claim that he was cheated on for the position of Vice President. The opinion was based on the 15,000 vote lead by Leni over Marcos.
Based on an article by Inquirer, the results of the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) only further affirms the current position of Robredo. The Vice President’s camp emphasized that Robredo won “fair and square”.
They even did a recount from the provinces that Marcos claimed he was cheated on. These were Iloilo, Camarines Sur, and Negros Oriental.
With this, Robredo’s spokesperson Barry Gutierrez told Marcos to “move on”. He also cited that since Marcos himself handpicked the provinces, their position is clear.
“I would tell Mr. Marcos the same favorite phrase of his family—move on, you lost, accept it”, Gutierrez said. Sardillo also added that the Marcos camp should respect the decisions of the masses.
Although both camps have yet to receive a copy of the recount results, Caguiao’s opinion was based on claims that Leni was up by 15,000 votes. This has been revealed by another lawyer of Robredo, Romulo Macalintal.
